Animal Shelter Please remember the animals during this time of the season. There are simple things you can do to help them as well! POPCORN BALLS For Birds and Squirrels 5 quarts popcorn, popped 2 cups sugar 1 1/2 cups water 1/2 cup light corn syrup 1 teaspoon vanilla Bird Seed In saucepan, combine sugar, water, and corn syrup. Cook to hard-stage (250 F). Add vanilla. Pour slowly over hot popped corn, mixing well to coat every kernel. Use a piece of string to make a loop to hang this with later on. The bird will use the string in their nest as well Press into balls (butter hands if necessary). Try not to burn your hands. Roll the popcorn balls into birdseed before they cool. Then set aside and allow to cool, then simply hang them outside on a branch for birds and squirrels to enjoy! *tip* I wouldn't hang this somewhere you don't want bird droppings! *tip* Make sure it is high enough that cats and dogs cannot get the birds easily. What Animals Eat Squirels - Nuts, berries, corn, bird seed, popcorn Birds - Bird seed and popcorn Deer - Apples and Corn Stray Cats - Cat food (dry or canned), Tuna(they deserve special treats too and the oils in fish are good for their fur!) Dogs - Dog Food, and dogs love raw hide bones! Above all, what you could do to help...! Offer a nice warm home, with lots of love to an animal. Please be kind to animals! You may find a new best friend who is very loyal there! Animal Shelter These are our pets we have given a home to:
Lacy is our eldest feline child from Edinburg Animal Shelter. We adopted him in May of this year.
Orion is our middle feline child, we adopted him when we found him outside our house.
